Weekend update including Great Manchester 10k
What a marvellous weekend of racing. Great results on the track on Saturday and 2nd place for ECH. Lot's of pb's etc. Gabby is going to do a report. Elsewhere there were two eye popping, jaw dropping, stupendous results. 1st Emilia Platt in the elite women's race at the Manchester 10km literally rubbing shoulders with international stars. 25th and a pb of 36.48. Next another sharp intake of breath as Angela Oldham recorded 22.37 at the South Manchester Park run and that gave her an Age Grade Score of 98.45%. That is literally almost the best in the world!! It is a big achievement to get an AGS of over 80%. This score gets her right near the top of the world rankings. Back in training and in shape Chris Swire records a superb 85% AGS to take the lead in the male rankings for ECH this year. Thursday was Alderman's Ascent fell race with a thigh popping and treacherous descent and a huge climb over Pots and Pans. 1st Gavin Browne and 2nd Gareth Raven. Then less than 48 hours later these 2 super heroes (not all super heroes wear capes) turned out on the track for ECH in the 1500 and 5000m respectively. Gav pb by 3 seconds and Gareth a sub 17 clocking!!! Words fail me. Finally toeing the line just yards behind Sir Mo in the Manchester 10km and good runs all round for Harry Hind, Michael Obi, Andy Sykes, Katie Kay, Dan Kenny, James Hartshorne and Tom McMahon. Callum Parkinson did a fantastic job as the 45 minute pacer....It has also come to my attention Michael Obi ran a super fast 400 and 200 Saturday before doing 36.44 today. Harry Hind did 2.09 in the 800m Saturday then 36.25 today!! A huge round of applause and congratulations to everyone.
