Weekend Round-Up 2nd/3rd March

Saddleworth Ten Res's
Saddleworth Ten Res's is a 26 mile (ish) race that visits 10 reservoirs around saddleworth, heading over the moors. It's self navigation but there were some marked areas.

The race starts in Greenfield and climbs up to the top of Dovestones and beyond. Once we started climbing there was lots more snow with it snowing quite heavily at times. I found it tough to get into a rhythm on the rocks and mud, but then on the snow covered stone paths it got a lot easier as long as you could stay on your feet! It got very cold on the climb up to Black Hill, but that was the worst of the weather and coming down into Crowden and then up the Pennine Way to head back it was only the mud to deal with.

I ran it with a friend from Mossley running club who hasn't done anything like that before, so took it a bit easier. Robin got a great time, I saw him at the start and then he promptly left us behind!

It's a great route but very tough in the weather we had, I'd recommend as long as you don't mind knee deep mud, snow and very wet feet! You also get pie at the end...
