Greater Manchester Track & Field Champs

A hugely successful day at day 1 of the GM champs at Bury (11th May).

On the track it was a day for sprints and long hurdles with 13 athletes competing across a range of events. In total there were 16 PB performances, 16 finalists, 1 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals won. 2 athletes, Max Ormston and Olivia Jones, have also been selected for GM to compete at the Northern U15/U17 inter counties in the 100 and 200m respectively.

Out in the field, 5 athletes competed in high jump, long jump, javelin and pole vault with PBs from 4 athletes, 2 gold and 2 silver medals won. Kyla Millington also equalled the club U13 girls long jump record.

Day 2 of the GM track and field champs (12th May) with sprint hurdles, distance and field events being contested. A smaller number of 8 athletes competed and following yesterday’s success there were 3 PB and numerous SB performances. Medalists today came from Amy Starkey, 2 golds, and James Harney with 3 silver and 1 bronze to add to his gold medal from yesterday making him the most decorated ECH athlete of the weekend (pictured).

Congratulations again to all who competed and thanks to our volunteers who officiated this weekend, without whom the competition couldn’t have happened.
