Black Knight Charge 2024

Our very own annual ‘Black Knight Charge’ multi-terrain race took place on Wednesday 24th July in Daisy Nook Country Park. Conditions were much better than last year with it being mostly dry!

First home in the senior 6 mile race was ex-ECH athlete David Barratt now of Salford Harriers in 33.05. Another ex-ECH athlete Ryan Worland, also now of Salford finished 2nd place in 33.51. East Cheshire’s Gavin Browne ran well to finish 3rd in 35.46.

In the ladies event, there was a brilliant course record by Saddleworth Runners athlete Martha Tibbot with a sensational time of 36.54 to take the win. Ex-ECH athlete Emilia Platt who has just recently joined Salford Harriers finished a strong 2nd place with 38.38. Eleana Matos took 3rd place in 44.04.

First vet male was Mark Collier of Salford Harriers in 37.25 and first vet female was Jaine Brocklehurst of Salford Met in 49.34. East Cheshire took the team win in the men’s race with Gavin Browne 3rd, Robin Horner 7th, Lee Butler 13th and Tom McMahon 18th. Manchester YMCA took the women’s team event with Josie Clough 7th, G.Holloway-Neville 9th, Chloe Quinn 11th and Katie Baker 22nd.

In the junior race over 2 miles proved to be a very exciting race at the front. East Cheshire’s Marshall Fleet just had enough to out-kick teammate Alfie Manser with times of 10.59 and 11.01 respectively, a reverse of last years race! Oliver Walker made it an ECH 1, 2, 3 taking 3rd place in 11.07. Well done Rachel Bowden of Trafford AC who went one better than last year to take the win with a time of 12.21. Demi Baxter took 2nd place with 13.00 and Isobel Thomas took 3rd in 13.11.

Well done to all athletes who took part and a massive thank you to all support from the amazing volunteers on the night who put on a tremendous event. Thanks to the local runners podcast for supporting the event which helped with producing another sell out race!

As always the presentation took place in the clubhouse and a hot pot supper welcomed the athletes. Results and team photo below, see you all next year!
